What is VNEC (Visual Narrative Emotional Comprehension) Model

What is the VNEC Model?

emotional lVNEC stands for Visual Narrative Emotional Comprehension.

It is a learning model designed to help children use visual storytelling to recognize emotions, understand context, and explain what a character may be feeling and why.

Many children can describe what happened in a story.

VNEC helps them go deeper:

What do I see?
What is happening?
What emotion may be present?
What clues support my thinking?
What choice or response makes sense?

Through MeMe JJ and Friends, I use illustrated stories and guided observation to help children build emotional understanding, literacy, and social awareness.

I am preparing to introduce this model to microschool and education audiences, and I welcome feedback from educators, parents, SEL professionals, and learning leaders.

Where do you see the greatest need for emotional comprehension support in children today?
