My mom and I were looking for a chihuahua because I missed MeMe so much when I’d return home. She did most of the searching — the newspaper, online listings, and shelters in Jacksonville, Brunswick, and Camden County.
And then, she found Maximillion.
Also known as JJ.
Lovingly nicknamed years later by someone as “Just Joy.”
(They didn’t even know him like that — but they were right, lol.)

My mom and I headed to the Humane Society of Camden County to meet Maximillion. When we arrived, a staff member met us and asked, “Are you here to meet Maximillion?”
I said, “Yes.”
And in that moment… the journey of MeMe JJ and Friends truly began.
